For nearly 2 years now I regularly get asked the question 'what happened to 'Wave 2' of from the ground up and will there ever be one on DVD?  The answer to what happened to it is a complex one.  Firstly wave 2 did exist not once but 3 times, the 1st tie it was supposed to be put on Autodesk the Area site, but one of the people in charge did not take kindly to me opening Mudbox Hub and pulled the rest of the videos.  So it sat on my drive until recently when I upped it for subscribers to the on demand streaming workshop I run on Mudbox Hub.  But I don't consider this to be 'Wave 2'.....

The next 2 versions were recorded and ready for release when I canned them as I didn't feel they lived up to WAVE 1 well enough. (Basically I woke up at 4am and deleted every model file, image and video.)   Wave 1 has been so successful that following it up was always going to be a very hard , almost impossible job.  But I decided a couple of weeks back to have another try, but take it in a different direction no one had done with Mudbox on DVD before.  Into the world of highly detailed complex bio mech design.

So WAVE 2 will soon be on general release and I can promise a DVD that creates one helluva complex character, using the Mudbox default body base mesh, a sphere and a couple of very simple poly models (for the goggles and scuba tanks).  No fancy, stamps, stencils or plug-ins...just Mudbox in the raw and extreme.  Digital sculpting is all about form and more importantly control over your lines that you sculpt. Without the quality of 'line' all the anatomy knowledge in the world will do no good whatsoever.  So that is the point of this DVD..to improve your line quality with something very challenging but still achievable to anyone willing to really put in the work.

If you are looking for a fast fix that you can learn in a day or three, then this DVD is not for you. If you want to push yourself hard, then you'll really want this one.   I'm not going to do the whole 'sales talk' on you as I believe this model will sell the DVD all by itself as there aren't many (if any) as detailed sculpts ever put out on DVD.  If you were a subscriber to my on demand screaming workshop then provided you joined before I announced it on my forum you will have access to wave 2 already for FREE as a gift to say thanks and to celebrate Mudbox Hubs 1st birthday.

The hub is 1 year old now, we've went through the mill of our t4ials and tribulations such as 6 months of day and night hack attacks and denials of service that cost me a fortune to have nail down and secure.   The hub has proved itself as a viable forum it's safe to say and there are lots of surprises in store for the next year.

So WAVE 2 that I think its safe to say 99% of people thought would never come out ..is doing exactly that in a very short time.  It's a DVD I'm very proud of and I'd like to hope it raises the bar for Mudbox and digital sculpting DVD's maybe just a little bit.
